Great stuff Rick! Thanks for posting this! This was the theme music to "Newscenter 16" on WNDU-TV, South Bend around the same time.

And WFTV channel 9 in Orlando, Florida uses the theme.

I love the newsman and cameraman sprinting toward their Action News Pacer.LOL.

Another example of the "3 blocks long" anchor desk of the 70s, vs. the "everyone is stacked on top of each other" look of today.

According to SouthernMedia's News Music Search Archive, the theme is actually a combo of "Classical Gas" and "Where You Belong," a package from TM Productions.

The one that was on Kingery Road/IL Route 83 is now Binney's and is quite a place

This has been credited as one of the longest running ads ever in American Television History. I remember seeing it so many times that the orchestral harp and bust [whom I believe is Beethoven] became well-remembered images. It also was where I first heard of Tchaikovsky's and Grieg's names [and I confess that I mis-remembered the 2nd featured work as 'Full Moon & Eight Empty Arms', that's a love song for a octopus ;) ]

Comment posted in WGN Channel 9 - The Late Movie - "Three Faces West" (Opening, 1980) by CaptainMorgan on Thursday, October 19th, 2017 at 6:43pm CT

I thought there was another Chicago TV late movie show that also used "Take Five" as well. Often I think of the Late Movie and Chicago jazz clubs when I here "Take Five" [although it was recorded in NYC]

What ever happened to the fuzzy-memories version of this ad with the gunfire at the end?

Comment posted in Coleco - Adam - "Is This Legal?" (Commercial, 1984) by CaptainMorgan on Thursday, October 19th, 2017 at 6:38pm CT

I had wanted one of these computers since I had the Colecovision. After all the huge problems the ADAM had, I am glad I never did.

I remember seeing this ad several times just before I turned 5 [I was in Homewood IL at the time]. This was a surprise seeing this ad again!

David H: If you look at an ad from the same campaign a year earlier http://www.fuzzymemories.tv/index.php?c=1467 , the numbers do NOT start with 555, but 888, 8 and 7.

Interesting that when you see the closeups of the phone and the hands pressing the buttons, they always start with 555- , the default phone number choice used for all phone numbers on TV shows from this era.
